| My name is Shaun I have a 1999 Dodge Neon with a DOHC. The reason i call it a DOHC is cause i cant find the damn name for the engine lol everytime i ask i get 10 different answers lol cause apparently i was told mitsubishi only has the 420a with the backwards top end haha but who cares about the name as long as i get to still work on the neons. Its what i love doing lol | |

| Welcome, nice to see more neons. Dose the car have a power bulge hood? Look at your cam cover(timing cover ?) and remove the inspection door of the cam gears. If there is two then its DOHC if one its a SOHC. With a little work you could call it a 5.0 killer. | |

| Lol i know its a DOHC but im just looking for what dodge calls the engine cause mitsubishi uses the same engine but the intake and exhaust is turned in a complete 180 and they call the engine the 420a DOHC im just looking for what dodge calls the DOHC instead of always having to say 1999 Dodge Neon CID L4 DOHC haha ill just call it the reverse 420a hahaha. i want to get a turbo for it right now but im just looking at the money issue haha as always but ive also got a chevy s10 with a 350 sb in it lol you want to talk about a major 5.0 killer haha | |

| No its not. The engine code for the eclipse is 420a, the neon code is different and I dont remember it right now. BUT people often mistake the two motors so it does'nt matter. 420a low end parts work so | |

| "420A" is what Mitsubishi calls the Chrysler 2.0 DOHC engine it purchases to use in Mitsubishi built vehicles such as the Eclipse.
No Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth built vehicle would have a 420A, aside from a joint venture vehicle like the Avenger.
D4RE ( looks like DARE )
daul cam 4cylinder rear Exaust
is what u have or S for single
The only official Chrysler designations for the Neon engines are ECB (2.0 SOHC), ECC (2.0 DOHC), ECH (2.0 SOHC Magnum) and EDV/EDT (2.4 DOHC Turbo). That's what you'll find on build sheets and in service information.

There are no actual R/T production figures. The R/T was classified with the Highline/Sport, and there is no official breakdown on production numbers between models.

| YEs late 93 but still 93. I know that because the axles are different from 93's and 94's. | |
